The Woman’s Society of 'Christian Service of Sperryville Methodist church met Wednesday even- 9 ing at 8 o’clock in the home of the Misses Hitt. Mrs. Nina B. Brown, president, opened the meeting with a scripture reading from Psalm 71: 14-18 and 1 Timothy 6:1-4. The business session was conducted by Mrs. Brown, at which time matters of the church program were discussed. Miss Della Hitt, the program leader, presented a very interesting lesson on the /subject “The Last for Which the First Was Made,” with other members of the society participating. During the social hour refreshments were served by the hostesses.

Entertain At Bridge

Mr. and Mrs. Claude Cook entertained Friday and Saturday evenings at their home in Flint Hi)l at bridge,' having as guests Friday evening Mr. and Mrs. David Corbin, Mr. and Mrs. Lock Bur- - ford, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie MeGehee, _Mr. and Mrs. John S. Browning. /Mrs, M. R, Bradford, Jr., and Mrs. Robert Massie. Prizes were Won by Mrs. Browning, first for ladies; Mrs. Robert Massie, first for men (Mrs. Massie played in the place of a man); Mrs. Corbin won the bingo prize and Mrs! Charles Wood won traveling. Guests Saturday " evening were Mr. and Mrs. W. A. < Moore, Mr. and Mrs. William Gilbert, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Emory Russell, John Keyser, Mrs. Paul Miller, Mrs. Brue Wood, and Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Smith. First prize for men was won by G. W. Smith, Jr.; first for ladies was won by Mrs. Miller. W. A. Moore won the traveling prize and Emory Russell the bingo prize.

Smith, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Keyser, Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Miller,' Mrs. R. V. Snead, Robert Brown, John McClenaghan, Mrs. William iLitsey, Mrs. Will Keyser, Joe DeJ Keyser, Mrs. Earl Edmonds and John Keyser. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Edmonds, first for ladies; and E. M. Jones, first for men.

Saturday evening guests were Mr. and Mrs. P. Lee Thornton, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Estes, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Combs, Mr. and Mrs. Brown Miller, Mr. and Mrs, C. E. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Quaintance, Jr., Mrs. M. B. Watkins, Hampson Keyser, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Kilby, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Lyne, and Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Wood. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Estes, first for ladies; Lee Thornton, first for men.
