An editorial in The Loudoufi News states that the discovery of the dishonest examination work by cadets of West-Point may be * blessing in disquise, for it may terminate a situation that might have become progressively worse. An investigation now may eradicate the athletics contests between West Point and Annapolis and may help to erase the feeling that has existed between members of the two branches of the armed services. The editorial writer seems to think that the result pf the affair may be one of unifying the armed services, and thus will be a blessing to the nation.
Within the county, it is none of our business how the affair is settled, though, of course, each one of us is entitled to our opinion as to whether or not the expulsion of the cadets was justifiable.
It is our business, here at home, to profit by the mistakes of others. If West Point, and other large educational institutions, can reach the place where athletics can become all-absorbing to the detriment of a scholar’s learning, then it is time for us in small communities to guard against repeating their mistakes. We can realize the importance of a “sound* mind in a sound body," but we ■hall watch against “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy," and all play and no work makes Jack a stupidly-dull boy.
