** According to information re-: ceived from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, Pfc. John M. Barber, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Barber of Culpeper, has been assigned duty with the U.S. Air Force 581st Air Resupply and Communications Wing at -Mountain Horae Air Force Base.
'Pfc. Barber formerly was a printer for Rappahannock^ News, prior to entering the Air Fqrce in June. He has been assigned to the 681st ARC Wing Reproduce tion Squadron as a printer. He was by-passed into printing upon completion of basic training at Sampson AFB, N. Y. ... His present organisation is being trained by the Military Air Transport Service for later deployment overseas. During wartime, the wing would disseminate psychological warfare materials and resupply military units'from 'the air.. — / - / ; .. -w

Visitors for the week end at “Pleasant View” were Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Keyser of Williamsburg, and on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Keyser, Mrs- Richard Light and children, Dick, Henry, Elliott, Eva and Caroline of Fairfax, Dr. J. S. DeJarnette, Miss tOrra Hopkins and Miss Minerva Rosen of Staunton.
Dr. DeJarnette presented a very beautiful gold watch to his nephew Joe D. Keyser. This watch was given the doctor by his uncle DrJoseph Spenser LaFayette DeJarnette, who wore it during the Civil War. -. - *
The doctor was home on furv dough when the alarm >was sounded “The Yankees are here,” he van through a clump of pines to the river and'hid under the high hank of a small branch. Later the Yankees jumped their horses

Guests were Misses Annie Mary Williams, Alice Lee Harrison, Margaret, Betty Lou, and Lucy Mao Reager, and Pete Dennis, Wallace Russell, Maynard Williams, Allen Lake, Nelson WilUar .9, Gordon Yowell, Sam Stanley, Jimmy Cabbage, Dallas Stringfellow, Linwood Williams, Robert Chadwell, and Lorry Sicker. Refreshments were served by the hostess, Mr*. Larry Ricker.
