He was born near Washington, Rappahannock county, January 17th, 1871. He united with tha Washington Baptist Church <when v he was 14 years old, and was a' faithful member all his Christian, life. He was clerk for many years, and superintendent of the Sunday' School for forty years. On. {account of failing health he resigned this office several years ago, but he still came to Sunday School every Sunday. His love and faithfulness to his church was an inspiration to all. He will be greatly missed in his church,' in his community, and in the county- His love and faithfulness to his church*' won for him the esteem and appreciation of all. He bad many friends, every one in the community knew and respected him. In his county he always stood for progress. ,, ■ ■
