Have Good Record
Northern Virginia Power Company and Potomac Edison System truck drivers have placed third in the utility division of the National Safety Council’s Fleet Safety nation-wide Contest, it was announced here this week.
The utility company drivers traveled 2,6215,000 miles between July, 1950 and June, 1951, record* ing 29 accidents. This gave them third place among 41 companies.
Drivers competing in this contest handle utility company construction, Line Department, Service Department and other division trucks.
PE’s safety supervisor Raymond Beard congratulated local driven who helped place the company in the top safety bracket. He stated that last year, Potomac Edison driven finished in thirteenth place in this same contest. He expressed the hope that, “we will continue to advance in the safety standings from year to year."
There were 255 Potomac Edison System trucks entered in the 1950-51 NSB contest. The distance they traveled is equal to more than 100 trips around the world.'
