Senator Stephens To Speak
At Institute of Rural Affairs
State Senator A. E. S. Stephens, legislator from Smith field, has l>een named to speak at the final evening sessions of the Institute of Rural Affairs at VFI.
Topic for his address, which is scheduled for Friday evening, August 1, will he “Agriculture in the Virginia Economy.”
Another feature of the Friday evening program will be' the presentation of “certificates of merit” to two individuals judged to have contributed most to Virginia agriculture during the past year.
As in years past, the farmers and rural homemakers attending the Institute will have their choice of three sessions each morning to attend— economics, youth, and family life.
Speakers for the various sections include:
Family life - Dr. Clarence Poe, editor of the Progressive Farmer, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Judge Camille Kelly, judge of the juvenile and domestic relations court, Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday; and Dr. Guion Johnson, professor of social sciences. University of North Carolina, on Friday.
Economics - E. G. Nourse, former chairman of the council of economic advisors, Washington, D. C, and Dr. Arthur March, Michigan State College,_on Friday; and Dr. Herman M. Southworth, BAE, USD A, Thursday. - , -1
