Sitting on her throne^ flanked by some of the first 1952 fresh j beaches to reach New York packed in wirebound universal crates, is Miss Joan Thompson, 20-year-old University of Kentucky honor student in home economics, who was chosen ^Universal Queen of Peaches.” ! The Hotel Astor press party climaxed a promotional program sponsored by wirebound shipping container manufacturers for the - benefit of the fresh peach industry with the cooperation of the National Peach Council.
