Mr. and Mrs. George W. Haymaker and daughter, Miss Connie of Front Royal and Mr. and Mrs. Grubbs of Bayard surprised Miss Lottie Burton and her dinner guest, Mrs. D. B. Burton on Sunday when they arrived at the home of Miss Burton before lunch with a picnic lunch which was enjoyed on the Burton lawn. Afternoon guests of Miss Burton were Mr. and MrS. Raymond Clem and Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Judd of Luray.
Miss Mary Massie Lea of Hollins College and John Cargill of Washington and Lee University, arrived Friday at the home of Miss Lea’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Lea. Miss Lea is home for her summer vacation Mr. Cargill returned t) Lexington on Tuesday, where he will be joined by Miss Lea in a few days for the eommencement exercises of the University.
Capt. and Mrs. H. C. Warwick of Rock Bottom and grandson, Will Warwick of Richmond were in Washington, D C. for the day Friday visiting Capt. and Mrs. F. L. Gallen and Mr. and Mrs. William Kearns.
Capt. H. C. Warwick attended the funeral of his aunt, Mrs. R. T. Wailes of Amherst on Wednesday.
