“You don't print the news,” comes the regular criticism.
Certainly not. (1) We don’t know everything that happens, to begin with. (2) Sometimes we are asked not to: “please don’t say we were in Waynesboro Friday; it was a rush business trip and some cousins will get their feelings hurt if they find out we were in town and didn’t go to see them.” (And other such and sundry reasons.) (3) It won’t fit. The pages of the paper are solong and so-wide. Exactly somany lines will print. If there are too many, some have to get left out. (4) Sometimes we think a certain story has been printed, and find out too late it hasn’t.
