When The Neighbor Rejoices
Next to getting a million dollars for myself, the nicest piece of news is to hear of my neighbor’s good fortune.
Of course, we’d all like to hear that each volunteer fire company in the county had just been given a fortune, but the story’s the other kind—it’s our neighbor who has the windfall!
Culpeper Rescue Squad cleared nearly $6000 on their carnival last week-end. This volunteer group of public-spirited men will probably sneer when they hear this insinuation that the money was given them—for they worked like dogs to put on the carnival, and its success was due to their work.
Rappahannock can rejoice with them, for we helped-—not a large amount, but every little bit counts.
Amissville and Sperryville fire companies both had their trucks present for the parade. Firemen of both companies showed their spirit of good will and let everyone see that they were on the spot to help their neighbors in any way possible.
