The True Army Worm is reported to be in action all over the state. One 10-12 acre field of corn in Rappahannock was completely ruined and another damaged. Crops in Culpeper and Madison counties have been damaged. .
The following control measures are recommended: Mix 12 to 2 pints (8 pounds toxaphene to the gallon) of toxaphene emulsifiable concentrate or 2 to 4 pounds of 50% TDK wettable, or 50% E)DT wettable powder to 40-50 gallons water, and this amount applied to the acre using conventional type high-pressure, high gallonage sprayers. In weed-type sprayers (low-pressure, low -gallon* age) use only the emulsifiable concentrates of toxaphene, TDE, or DDT mixed with the appropriate amount of water. Most weed-type sprayers are calibrated to apply from 10 to 20 gallons to the score.
