At best seeding sudan is a gamble at this time of year, however, IF you can prepare seed bed and get it planted by not later than August 12 it could prove worth the gamble as an emergency hay or ensilage crop: Seed 20-35 lbs. of Common, Sweet and Tift variety per acre (a grain drill set at 2 pecks of wheat will seed about 2025 lbs.) Apply 600-800 Jbs. 10-10-10 or 9-9-9 or 5-10-T0 per acre. DO NOT GRAZE BEFORE 18” TALL AND DO NOT GRAZE, MAKE HAY NOR" ENSILAGE OF FROSTED SUDAN. IT WILL POISON LIVESTOCK IF FROST HAS HIT. EXTEND GRAZING by applying 400 lbs. of a 10-10-10 or 9-9-9 analysis fertilizer per acre now to orchard grass aftermath or by applying 200-250 lbs. of a 20% nitrogenous fertilizer.
