That night was my only opportunity to be in town; therefore after dinner, iregrettingly and apologizing to Mr. Lyne for taking his time after a hot day, I asked for^ his help. Mr. Lyne was most gracious and if after two hours he was disturbed by my visit, I was not made aware of it. I have never had a more enjoyable nor a (more instructive evening. Not only were my questions answered, but illustrations, and applications of experience applied were given in a most interesting form of information. The contest of his assistance gave me an excellent report on soil conservation berofe the class on Monday morning. 1 expressed to the class my regret that it could not get the report from Mr. Lyne directly as I had; however, at the close of the report ithe instructors were very complimentary and numbers of the class, strangers to me, came to tell me how much they had enjoyed the report and to “sock” their fingers into the Rappahannock soil. These also expressed themselves as to how fortunate the county was to have a man whose heart was apparently in his work. Indeed, we are fortunate and I hope we realize this fact, not only is the farmer 'benefited but business and j professional citizens can acquire information and assistance if they will make use of their opportunity. * There is nothing more important than soil, and there must be knowledge concerning soil and soil types ^ in order to keep it with us and to get the best results from it. It is my hope that all may work with Mr. Lyne in his efforts to make Rappahannock a more profitable place in which to live, for in my
