The current market price on wheat in Virginia ranges from $1.65 to $1.75 per bushel. The support level 4 on wheat, varying by counties, runs from $2.37 to, $2.41 per bushel for No. 1 grade. After deducting certain handling fees and grade discounts, growers can usually get loans averaging about $2.20 per bushel. With commercial storages full, wheat grower's - must choose between selling on the .*-■ market at a price below support level and storing wheat on the farm. Lewis4 urged farmers who have not yet disposed of their wheat to reexamine their on-farm storage facilities. Upon request, the PMA county office manager will have an inspection made of any farm building to determine its suitability for storing wheat. It is not required that the wheat storage space he located on ‘ the same farm operated?iby the wheat producer taking out the loan, the PMA chairman added. CCC . wheat loans are available through the PMA county office through January 31, 1954, and mature April 30, 1954. Loans may be called by PMA at any time prior to the maturity date if it is determined that the wheat is going out of condition. •
