CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL IS REPAIRED *
The Confederate Memorial in the courthouse . yard -recently underwent a general repair and cleaning. Learning that it was fast becoming a hazard to the children who played around it, the U.D.C. of Culpeper appropriated funds for its repair. The 'balance was 'subscribed by interested local citizens. The rifles were replaced by a slab of marble and several parts in danger of Jailing were removed. The marble was cleaned to a pure whiteness.
Mr. Tucker of Huntngton, West Va., and G. M. Slaughter of Charleston, West Va., visited A. J. Slaughter on Wednesday, September 9. Mr. Slaughter, a native of Rappahannock, left the county 52 years ago and has lived in West Virginia since that time. It has been five years since he has visited his brother in the county.
