Public assistance cases in Virginia have dropped steadily in four of the six programs administered by local welfare departments, Mrs. M. Elizabeth Buntin, Superintendent of the Rappahannock County department of public welfare reported today. These decreases have more than offset increases in two programs, and the total today is well below the lotal in the state three years ago. Steady increases have been noted in foster care and aid to the disabled. The disabled program became effective in October 1950. « _
Meanwhile, the average payment in each case has increased, the superintendent said, as many local departments of welfare have made efforts to meet a larger part of the need of welfare clients.

And Elects Officers
The B. T. U. was organized Sunday night by the director, Pickens Barker, in the Washington Baptist Church, with thirty members present.
