Dr. Harry M. Love, Head Depart' rnent of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology V.P.I., will lead a discussion on “Some Considerations in Agricultural Policy” on Wednesday, May 5, at the Court House in, Washington beginning promptly at eight o’clock in the evening.
Having acted as leader, in several similar discussions held elsewhere in the state, Dr. Love carte to Rappahannock at popular request of some of her leading farm men and women.
Actually this will be a forum type discusssion in which those present will be expected to participate iby expressing their viewpoints in various issues pertaining to agricultural policy matters and by asking questions concerning the viewpoints , expressed by,, "others.1 It is not a"discussion meeting ' wherein the leader comes prepared to give the answers, it will be directed1 primarily toward determining WHAT LOCAL FARM PEOPLE THINK a government program should do for farmers and illustrating • how decisions are made through the market place.
The illustrated portion will deal with the market as it operates ordinarily when the’ consumer is free to decide what he or she will buy, when it will be bought, how much etc, as contrasted with the hand operated market when government takes responsibility for making arbitrary decisions.
Of course, if you do not pay taxes, or don’t eat, this will not arouse your interest, consequently I’m expecting to see you Wednesday evening, May 5. ■ , , ,
