Spring Flower Show
Draws Large Crowd
The Spring Flower Show, staged Thursday by the Rappahannock Garden Club in the Washington Baptist Church, was viewed by scores of flower lovers from all over the country and numerous neighboring counties.. Page, Culpeper, Madison, Fauquier, to mention a few, were represented at the show.
The visitor was introduced to the atmosphere of the show by the cleverly decorated walk way bordered by white rocks and flowering shrubs. In the educational building, flower arrangements and compositions lined the walls and filled the long tables, down the center of the room, each composition and arrangement having its. individual niche. The minatures were shown on a special “tree” with a little leaf-shaped shelf for each arrangement. Nosegays were shown in tilted corsage boxes and the arrangements for a kitchap were shown appropriately in the kitchen.
Many complimentary comments were overheard concerning the clever plans for staging the show and the outstanding artistry of the arrangements.
The sweepstake award in Horticulture classes was won by Mrs. George Jameson of Culpeper and the same award in arrangement was won by Mrs. Dorothy Estes. Mrs. Dorothy Davis received a tri-color award for her composition “Tally-Ho,” which one display alone would have been worth a trip to the show. ,
The Garden Club members sincerely appreciate the kindness of the Baptist Church officials of Washington in allowing them to use their beautiful new building. It was a most ideal set up for a flower show, and patrons enjoyed being there.
