Battles Speaks At
Conservation Rally
In Orange, Oct. 15
Roy Battles, Assistant ta the Master of the National Grange, Washington, D. C., will deliver the main address at the 1954 Conservation Rally in the Orange !High School Auditorium tomorrow. Friday, October 15 at 8 p.m. The Culpeper Soil Conservation District Supervisors who are sponsoring the rally feel very fortunate in securing a speaker of national prominence. Mr. Battles, who is recognized as a very interesting and enthusiastic speaker, was born and reared on a general livestock and fruit farm in Geauga County, Ohio. He brings to the audience a lifetime of experience in the field of Agriculture.
Prior to joining the staff of the National Grange as Assistknt to the Master in July 1952, Mr. Battles was a member of the Farm Department of Radio Station WLW in Cincinnatti, Ohio. He served as Farm Program Director from 1944 until he came to the Washington Office of the Grange. During this time he also operated a farm for the Radio Station.
In 1950 he was elected President of the National Association of Radio Farm Directors, and from 1950 until mid-1952 Mr. Battles served as a member and Secretary of the Ohio Natural Resources Commission. *
