passed a bill authorizing Soil and 'Water Conservation Loans to~ farmers in all the states. Previously these loans had been Available only in 17 more arid Western States.
These loans may be made to ^-eligible farmers to pay cash cost of materials and labor in the construction and repair of terraces, dikes, ponds, installation of pumping and irrigating equipment— drill wells, install cisterns and tanks and similar equipment. Loans can be used for pasture improvement and basic applications of lime and fertilizer.
M. B. Fields, County Supervis- or of the Farmers Home Administration, said these loans will be available in Rappahannock and other counties served by the Culpeper Office and that the Farmersi Home Administration, on agency - of the U. S. Department of Agriculture,- would administer the loans.
Fields stated that a series of meetings will be held in the near future to explain the loan program to County Agricultural Officials, local bankers and dealers and other leaders. -He stated, however, that any farmer interested in this type of assistance may come to the County Office at 505 N. Main Street, Culpeper, and talk the situation over. The loans will be at 41/2
