a missionary until lately. I think this trip is going to be a great help in showing things to me in a new light. I can’t explain what my views were, _ but I met such pleasant young people on the steamer who were going out as missionaries, and meeting them in* fluenced me. . . .”

Oiir boat docked at Spain, France, Italy and Egypt. Sometimes we felt that we were taking a cruise as we were allowed to go ashore in each place. You may be assured that it was most interesting, educational and sometimes embrassing. Alexandria, Egypt was like a different world with its poverty, intense heat and strange language. It was depressing as well but as we were leaving we received a "shot in the arm" when this message arrived: “Welcome to Lebanon. I Thessalonians 5:24. Lebanese Baptists and Missionaries.”

We have a wonderful group with which to work. We felt that we know them before we arrived as we had been corresponding. Here is a typical quote from one of their letters: “May you feel His guiding hand of mercy and love during these days and weeks as you prepare to leave your loved ones. I can assure you that you have a new/‘family* awaiting you; you wijf find a home in their hearts— both of the nationals and of your fellow-missionaries.” Never truer words were spoken.

The mission house is full, so all of us will have apartments nearby. Carolyn Cate and I have a third floor apartment which overlooks the Mediterranean, Lebanon mts. and the entire city with its flat-roofed houses, many balconies and palm trees. From this point we can watch the multitude of people going to and fro. All you need to drive a car here is a horn. The one who blows first at an intersection is the one who has the right of way.
