Better Fire House
Plans for acquiring* additional room in order to more adequately house their fire equipment were discussed in a called meeting of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department Monday night.
L. V. Merrill,. Lewis Turner, and Charles T. Bruce were appointed committeemen to look imto the housing situation and to present their findings to the firemen in another called meeting to he held next Monday night.
The firemen plan to accept one of three plans: the purchasing of j the present fire building from the town and then enlarging it; buying the Thornton building at the cor’ ner of Main and Middle Streets; or purchasing property and erecting a new building. .As the situation.is now, a fire ; truck is housed at Mrs. J. W. Price’s garage and the Rescue Squad car at Parkway Chevrolet garage. Furthermore the Ladies Auxiliary to the Fire Company have outgrown their kitchen and 'dining hall facilities. | A new slate of officers was elected at this meeting held in die fire hall: Bruce S. Bowie, Chief; Charlie Jenkins, Assistant Chief; and Morgan Johnston, SecretaryTrpwiirpf. ■
