SLATE MILLS CHURCH REPORTS ACTIVITIES
Rev. Clem A. Waiters, pastor of the church, had as the subject cf his sermon on Sunday “A Sensation in Church.” In spite of the bad weather a large congregation was in attendance.
Mrs. Jennie Miller, Miss Lizzie Miller, Mrs. L. R. Hudson, Mrs. Maude Dodson Mrs. Clarence Dorsey and Mrs. Robert Boyd represented the Slate Mills W. M. S. Monday evening at the study course on the mission book “Under the North Star” held at Culpeper Baptist Church for the societies belonging to the Margie Shumate Group. A supper was served featuring an Alaskan menu, j with centerpieces depicting the various localities where Baptist ,mission work is being carried on, and a film-strip “Nuggets of the North” was shown.
On Wednesday the Silas Bruce R. A. Chapter, of which Earl Tanner is Ambassador-in-Clhief, made a field trip with thrir senior counselor to the birthplace near Reva of-Silas Bruce, who was born February 16, 1804 and served many churches of this area for over half a century.
The W. M. S. will meet Thursday evening at 7:30 at the home of Mrs. Conner Jenkins.
