Lightning Strikes Out Of The Blue—
Clyde Lillard, Clyde Jr., Asberry Clark and Mrs. Frank LiN lard all had a narrow escape Friday afternoon abbut 5 o’clock when a sudden bolt of lightening . struck a tree in Mr. Lillard’s yard. There were no dark clouds and only faint, distant: rumblings of thunder when a great flash of light and a loud blast sent the air, scattering chips of bark, digging a jagged hole along thie ground from the tree to the house. The men, sitting under a tree nearby were stunned but were not hurt. .
Mrs. Lillard, Clyde’s aunt, had just moved from the tree to the porch, minutes before the blast. Only the electric fuses were burned out; all'the appliances were intacts . when investigation was made. The men thought for a moment a bomb had been dropped.
