Lieutenant
Charles G. Reid, Jr., USNR son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles G. Reid of Washington, was recently promoted to the rank of Lieutenant while serving aboard the Atlantic Amphibious Force flagship USS Pocono (AGC 16) as Navigator.
Lt. Reid is a graduate of King’s Point U. S. Merchant Marine Academy at Long Island, N.Y. After graduation in 1947, he served a year in the South African and European area, then accepted a position with the Moore-Mc* Cormack Lines, Inc., later becoming Executive Officer of the SS Brazil.
After six years of duty with the Moore-McCormack Lines, during which time he earned an Unlimited Master’s License, Lt. Reid was called to active duty in the Naval Reserve and immediately reported to the Pocono.
A native of Washington, Lt. Reid and his wife, the former Miss Racheal Dumouchel of Cuttingsville, Vermont, make their home in Jackson Heights, N.Y.
