TURKEYS
Little-change is expected in the turkey market through tne holidays
Virginia markets strengthened a cent last week on all types. Heavy type hens were 35 to 36; heavy toms, 28 to 29, and light types, 29 to 31c. These prices should hold, considering holiday demand.
HOGS
The first note of encouragement, although slight, has appeared in thejiog market.
Virginia auction markets picked up 5c last week to $12.35. Top prices on Western markets were $11.50 to $11.75.
Receipts have passed the peak (550,000 last week as against 600,000 at peak), and should continue downward gradually.
On the other hand, demand is going to be limited at least until past the holidays, and it will take about that long to work off the supply already on hand.
CORN
Corn should continue to strengthen some during the week especially in eastern markets.
Richmond slipped 3c during the week to $1.19 for U.S. Number 2, probably reflecting the increase in local movement.
Norfolk price gained for the second week, up 5 to 10c to average ---«
