Down Rodcettas 42 to 24

Panthers conquor again! For the third game of a victory streak the Panther girls« defeated the Rockettes with a score of 42 to 24. The game was a benefit for the Varsity Clubs. Black was high scorer with 22, Devers next with 16 and Turner with 6. Smith and Hawkins substitute-forwarded in the last quarter. Bruce, Settle and Atkins played some in each quarter. Dodson played in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters and Jenkins played in the last quarter. The quarter scores Were as follows: first, 10 to 6; second, 22 to 10; third, 26 to 17; with a good fight1 by the opponents all the way and the final score, 42 to 24.

Mrs.. Jean Leonard, formerly of Marshall High, was high point for . the Rockettes with 10. Jean Alther, formerly of Rappahannock i High, scored 9 (points, three of them foul shots. Rachael Deal, a member of the Panther team, who had to play as there were not enough Rockettes, scored 5. Shirley Williams and Virgie Atkins, both formerly of RCHS and Sally Thornhill of Madison High played the whole guard game for the Rockettes. The Varsity Club appreciates the Rockette girls who played in the game, and wants to thank them. Lose To Gar-Field 27 to 46

The Panther girls were defeated by Gar-Field with a score of 46 to 27. The girls played a hard game on a larger court than they were accustomed to playing on. Devers rebounded a shot of Turner’s for' the first score for Rappahannock, Black hit a jump to Devers for the only other score for the Panthers in that quarter and the quarter ended with the score 14 to 6. The girls looked much better in the next quarter, holding thqir opponents to only one point gain and scoring 9 themselves. They scored on a Turner, Devers, Black relay, a Bruce, Atkins, Devers relay and Devers put in two long shots from back of the key and Blade scored on a rebound. The half ended with the score li to 15. Black scored to start the third quarter, Turner rebounded for a shot and Black made one from far back. The girls seemed to slow down in this quarter and it ended with a score of 20d*> 30/ In the fourth quarter the guardsfof the Gar-Field team seemed to build a wall around the goal. Black scored on a rebound. A Hawkins, Turner, Black relay was good for a goal. Devers scored once from way back on the court. The game ended with a score of 46—27.
