Weekly Farm Price

^ . Outlook . *

(This it the way prospects for Virginia farm prices looked to the Virginia Department of Agriculture on Friday. The Department offers it to farmers with the warning that no one can predict prices and be right all the time.) Big supplies are having their effect on broiler and egg prices right now, with a prospect of shakiness in both this week. Com in the midst of harvest in Virginia, is apt to be steady, but some of the low spots in the state may adjust upward a littje Hogs have about three more weeks to go before we can look for improvement. Cow prices, holding up well so far, could drop if frost depletes grass enough to send more cows to market.

BROILERS With about a fifth more broilers than last year’s big supply coming to market about now, nobody’s trying to kid themselves into optism about prices for a while yet.

The Virginia supply is again up above last year's level and will be until about Christmas.

Prevailing prices during last week were: Shenandoah Valley, t15%-16c; Oelmarva 161/4-16%; and Georgia 15-16c, all generally i little lower than' last week.

' EGGS

Egg prices will probably show a tendency toward weakness this week.

More eggs are being produced than most people expected for this time of the year. Colder weather hasn’t yet struck hard enough in producing areas to cut supplies any.

Mediums—the most abundant right now—dropped as much as 8c off their retail price in Virginia last week, while the market price remains steady at 32c. ; Grade A Larges were still generally about SOc in Virginia.

CORN

There’s apt to be little change in the com price picture this week, except some of the below-par markets might adjust to the higher
