For example, Petersburg quotations at $1.32 were 5c over nearby Richmond. Norfolk quoted $1.25-$129, and Northern Neck markets were $1.23. , The October stocks report shows the largest stock of old crop corn ever, but about half of it is in the hands' of CCC.

HOGS

Jn about three weeks we should pass the peak in hog receipts. Uutil then, prices will probably decline proportionately. During this time there’ll be plenty of competition from poultry.

Markets mostly weakened last week, with Virginia auctions 30c lower at $16.40; Richmond 75c lower to $16-$16.25. Baltimore dropped 50c to $16.50, and Western markets were $15-$15.50.;

Some of that weakness was caused by heavier receipts last week 10% more in the 12 major markets.

Inspected slaughter is now about 5 per cent below last year, and the spread should keep on increasing
