Prices probably will peak about the last of June at somewhere around $2 above last year’s peak of $17.25.
If you have hogs about read/ you can afford to put a little more weight on them, but don’t let them run over about 210 pounds. Remember, many markets discount for too much fat.
Hog prices in Richmond last week were $16.75 to $17, with the Virginia auction average at $17.25 and Southwest Virginia markets at $16.75 to $17.50.
Baltimore hogs were bringing $18 to $18.25, Chicage $16.75 to $17.50 and Indianapolis-St. Louis $15.75 to $17.
