Consumption
Virginia Electiic power consumption continued an upward trend in April with deliveries of electric energy by the state s utility companies up 10.1 per cent over the same month last year.
Total sales of over 824 million kilowatt hours in April were reported ii» the monthly tabulation of electric company sales by the Public Utilities Association of the Virginias. Total sales in April last yeaf were 748 million kilowatt hours. Residential and farm .electric customers led all other classification in increased use ofpower in April with a jump of 13.7 per cent. Part of this increase was attributed to unseasonably c$ol weather during the month, the remainder to growth in customers served and increasing use of various appliances.
. Commercial and industrial power sales rojse 8.3 per cent, a smaller growth rate than in earlier months of 1960.
All other classifications of power users, including street and highway lighting and other public authorities, reported an increase of 7.6 per cent above last year.
