The earth worm is intermediary host for lungworm in livestock. I for one didn’t realize thfs was one reason for ringing hogs. Animals infested with lung worm frequently have a dry cough which increases, , when an animal is forced to move about. Serious infestitation frequently causes pneumonia. Rotation of pasture, keeping swine off ground after spring rains when earth worms are near surface, and not running swine and cattle together will help prevent infestation.
