Young men and women, generally from 18 to 23 years of age, are eligible for the year orphans schooling program if their veteran-fathers died of service-connected conditions.

They may be eligible for up to 36 months of schooling, with VA paying them an allowance of up to $110 a month.

The term “orphan” in the program’s name means that the veteran-father must have died, but the young person’s mother may or may not be alive.

Nnder the pfogram, war orphans may attend a college or university, but also! certain schools below the college fevel, such as trade, vocational or business schools. However, VA isaid, regular high school academic courses are not to be considered a part of this program.

Information on the war orphans education program may be obtained from any VA office, the gency said.
