Baylor Choral Group
Has Grand Program
Hie Bayloi Bards and Rhapsody in White of Waco, Texas, brought a spirit of wraith in fellowship and music to the snow covered County of Rappahannock Saturday evening. The concert opentd with a stirring account of the creation with narration and back ground music.
It then progressed through the Old and New Testaments. All of the musical selections were bridged by selected scripture passages spoken by the entire choir or solo narration.
The music was new and refreshing as many of the selections were written especially for this choir by Texas composers. The audience was also privileged to hear Handel’s “Thanks Be To Thee” and Palestrina’s “We Adore Thee.”
A special feature following the sacred concert was a medley of tunes from the Broadway musical “Brigadoon.” There were other secular songs in the form of a love duet, trio and an outstanding solo, “Shadrack, Meshack And Abednego,” sung by Olen Massey.
The three hundred who braved the cold weather were thoroughly warmed by the spirit and musicanship of the young College group under the direction of Miss Martha Barkema. The members of the choir were also warmed by the fine spirit the Rappahannock people showed them.
