Sunday, February 5, The Rt. < Rev. Robert F. Gibson, Jr. will visit Trinity Church, Bromfield Parish for his annual visitation and confirmation. This will be Bishop Gibson’s first visit here since becoming the 10th Bishop of Virginia on January 1, 1961. He will lead the congregation in worship assisted by the Rev. Dabney Carr who will present several members to receive the apostolic laying on of hands. Bishop Gibson will;preach the sertrion. Independent Churjch. lh:s is a large church of nearly 3,000,000 members who separated from Rome in 1902 and whilst* Bishops were consecrated by Bishops of the Episcopal Church. Many of their clergy are trained in St. Andrews Episcopal seminary, Quezon City. These discussions may well lead to even closer ties between the two churches, thus contributing to the unity of Christ's cl lurches. •This will be a return of Bishop Gibson’s part, after thirty years, to the Philippine Islands where he formerly served as a missionary teacher.
