Py 1914 Derain was beginning to receive eood prices for his painting and he was designing especially witty sets and costumes for rhe ballet. After his demobilization from the army in 1918 he devd-' oped a personal pictorial style of great individuality which remained a marie of his work throughout the rest of his life.
