RCHS Boys Defeat
Marshall; Girls Lose
First League Game
For the second time this season, Rappahannock Panthers defeated the Marshall basketball team by one point with a score of 35 to 34.
The game was played on the Marshall court Tuesday night, February 21 with tension high and spectators excited. For such a close contest, the good sportsmanship of everyone concerned was noticably outstanding.
With a one point lead, Rappahannock froze the ball for about a minute and a half to insure a win.
Butch Browning and Richard Belch each came up with 12 points to eke out the victory.
In a prior league game on the Panther’s home court, they edged to victory with a 34-33 score.
Rappahannock girls tasted defeat for the first time in conference play when they bowed to Marshall
Both Rappahannock Girls ahd boys are still in first place in the District Nine Group II league.
There has been a change in the schedule of the tournament games to be played Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Rappahannock will play Warrenton on Friday night February 24th. The winner of this game will compete Saturday night in the championship play-off.
