Forest fires for the last two months are at an all time low, “thanks to the snow,” quoted D. G. Wilfong, District Forester. On the serious side, though, the Virginia Division of Forestry has problems, even with no forest fires, in other phases of work with the snow blanketing the ground.
55,000,000 forest tree seedlings must be delivered and planted during the next eight to ten weeks. Orders for seedlings are at an all time high and conservation minded 4 landowners are ordering trees daily i despite the snow problem.
