Dr. James H. Johnson and his wife Charlotte Coats Johnson were both reared in the same hiral community in Virginia.
Following high school James attended the University of Richmond receiving a B.S. in biology while Charlotte attended Madison College at iH'arrisonburg, Virginia from which she received a Bachelor of Music degree.
James attended medical school at the University of Virginia'and then served his interneship at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. For two years following he was in infectious disease at the National Institute of Health at Bethesda, Maryland. This was followed by three years residency at Duke. Also, mention should be made of special training in gastroenterology at the Duke Medical Center.
Scientific papers read recently by James include one at the Southern Medical Meeting at Atlanta entitled “Portal-Systemic Encephalopathy.” He also has papers coming in the near future on “Florid C i r r h o s i s,” Post Gastrectomy Complications,” and “Correction of Post Gastrectomy Mal-absorption.” An older publication in the dermatology literature includes an article on “Ecthyma Contagiosa.” ‘ James Johnson is presently associated with the Watson .
