4-H Demonstration

Contest Held

On Saturday, March 18th, the 4-H Girls Demonstration Contest was held at the parish hall in Washington, Va.

The girls gave demonstrations on 4-H projects they are taking. The senior winner will go to the District Contest in Madison on April 15th.

Judy Lillard, Flint Hill senior Club member, won a blue award on her demonstration on “Canning Apples” and a blue award on “Converting; An Oil Lamp.” Betty Kilby, Sperryville Senior Club, received a blue award in the Style Dress Review Contest. Betty modeled a spring dress she made.

In the junior contest, Carolyn Johnston, Sperryville III Club, received a blue award for her demonstration on “Table Setting.” Diana Carr,! Washington II Club, received a blue award for a demonstration on “Swedish cookies." Helen Dodson, Washington II Club, was given a red award for her cake demonstration. Peggy Smith, Forest Grove Club, got a white award for her demonstration on “Table Setting." Rebecca Dodson, Washington II Club, also received a white award on “Table Setting.” . In the Junior Clothing Contest, Jean Carter Moffett received a red! award for her demonstration on “Making a Tea Towel.”

Judges for the event were Mrs. Frank Cary and Miss Anna Ruth Barnette. ;
