Class Held For KVG
Rappahannock High School Chapter of KVG held their annual fire fighting and woodland management class on the high school grounds last Wednesday. The classes were conducted by District Forester W. C. Vernam of Warrenton and Chief Warden Raymond Johnson of Rappahannock.
The KVG is an organization of high school boys dedicated to the preservation of Virginia’s jforest lands. The main objective of the organization is the prevention of forest fires but the members are fully equipped to fight fires if the occasion arises.
The local chapter is under the sponsorship of the department of Vocational Agriculture but membership is not limited to Vo-Ag students.
It is true that the people of Rappahannock have been extremely fortunate in the past'several years because of very few fires, but it is no secret that this present period of drought presents a real threat. It is partly because of thus that the members of KVG earnestly hope that everyone will use extreme caution in all out door activities involving°fires of any kind.
Rappahannock’s hills are green and beautiful, let’s keep them so.
