The U. Va. Extension Center-Again
Apparently the much publicized program to create an Extension Center for the University of Virginia in Madison .was bogged down. , .
Meanwhile Culpeper, aggrssive and alert, was taking advantage of the situation and is attmpting to divert the location of the center from Madison to Culpeper. • In view of these developments, we contacted the chairman of Madison’s School Board to find out what ^situation was. Mr. Berry informed us that while four of the five counties had appropriated the necessary funds Rappahanock had failed to vote for its $5,00 share. We were further informed by him that this failure was actuallv jeopardizing the entire program. • _, Our next stop, and right away, too, was Our good friend George Davis, Commonwealth s Attorney, told us promptly and frankly that Rappahannock was cool to ithe idea. Two months ago the Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock tabled the idea. M^heir last Hjeetihg it never came up Why? Said Mr. Davis, Whv should we be interested? Nobody has bothered to explain a thing about'the program to us.
