Roy Jones Dies
After Brief Illness
C. Roy Jones, 84, prominent and highly esteemed Culpeper business man, died early Friday morning, January 12, in Culpeper Memorial Hospital, succumbing to a heart attack following a brief illness. Mr. Jones was at his place of business as usual on Wednesday before his death Friday. Native of Orange County, a son of James Henry Jones and Susan Graves Jones both of Orange, Mr. Jones has operated his business, C. Roy Jones, Jeweler and Optician in the same location on Davis Street for the post 54
years.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church where he served as vestryman for a number of years; charter members of Culpeper Retail Merchants Association ; a member of Fairfax Lodge No. 43 and a Knights Templar.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby K. Wine Jones of Culpeper; a son, Charles R. Jones, Jr. of Arlington; a granddaughter, 'Eleanor Lewis Jones; and three sisters, Mrs. William G. Walker, Stevensburg, Miss Irene Jones, Staunton and Miss Minnie Jones, Culpeper, the latter being ossociated in business with him.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 14 from St. Stephens Oiurch. The Rev. Gardner Van Scoyer conducted the service in the absence of the pastor, the Rev. J. Donald Partington, who was Ul. .
Interment was in the family section of Culpeper Masonic CemPallbearers
