Public Supper

The Ruritan Club will sponsor a turkey and ham supper at the fire hall in Amissville on Wednesday, February 14 from 6 to 9 pjn. All you can eat for $1.50. The men of the club will do all of thecooking and serving.

Mountains To Meet

The Council of the Southern Mountains will hold its 50th Annual Conference at Gatlinburg, Tenn., February 20-24. President Kennedy, in sending his greetings $6 the Council on its Golden Anniversary, said: “The Appalachian South, probably more than any other area, typifies both the, economic problem and the economic “challenge which faces our' country.” Two hundred and fifty-seven mountain counties of this region jvill be represented by federal, state, county and private agencies in the fields of health, welfare, religion, rural and community development, education and many others. First reports on the Southern Appalachians Studies, now at the press, will be presented by some of the researchers. All persons concerned about economic and social conditions who wish to contribute their ideas, or learn how they can help, are welcome. All mountain counties, as well as agencies, groups and clubs are urged to send representatives as an investment in the future progress of this region. Reservations are-now being accepted b ythe Mountain Vieiy Hotel in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
