The Electorial College
President Kennedy, the constant candidate, is now making a big play to satisfy the union vote, the government worker vote, the relief and unemployment vote and the colored vote. He’s playing on/an instrument that makes itself heard, too . . . the cash register.
The reason for this is obvious. Twelve states have260 of the 26'J electoral votes necessary to elect a president. These twelve states are dominated by large cities, which are in turn dominated by minority pressure groups.
To return the country to the rule of the majority, and to minimize the disproportionate influence of minority groups it is essential that we dispense with the outmoded electoral college system. A presidential candidate would then look to the average of all people, instead of a few key minority groups that now can swing the balance in heavy electoral vote states. BCBJr
