Rites Today For Mrs.
Margaret Thornton
Mrs. Margaret Blanche Thornton, wife of the late John Edward Thornton, died early Tuesday, June 19 at Iliff Nursing Home in Dun Loring, Va. after a lengthy period of declining health. She was 8 2years old.
Mrs. Thornton was bom in Rappahannock County, a daughter of the late Addison W. Clark and late Eliza Frances Cliser. She operated the hotel io Washington, Va. for many years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Paul Walker of Winchester who had lived in Washington, Va. until a year ago; and Mrs. Hilda Levesque of Arlington, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Russell Johnson of Winchester, Mrs. Alice Moyer of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Pauline Egan, Glendive, Mont; and three grandchildren, Mrs. Frances W. Grant of Spotsylvania, Louis S. and Roy E. Levesque, both of Arlington. '
A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 21 (today) at 3 pm. from the Washington, Va. Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren L. Wilbur officiating. Interment will be in the Masonic Cemetery here.
Mrs. Alberta Thorn
Dies At Age Of 103
Mrs. Alberta Margaret Thorn, age 103, of Warrenton, died Monday, June 18 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bessie Dowden. She was born in Castleton, Rappahannock County in October 1858, the daughter of the late George and Mary Gooch Cunningham, and was the widow of the late John Andrew Thorn. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mamie Payne of The Plains, Va.; 4 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. yesterday in the Warren torn Cemetery with the Rev. William Hinton, pastor of the Orlean Baptist Church, officiating.
