A single vehicle accident occurred at 8 p. m. Sunday on Route 522 eight miles east of Sperryville. Lawrence McCleery Shelton of Fredericksburg ran off the right side of the highway and down an embankment totally demolishing his 61 Volkswagen. The Rappahannock Rescue Squad took Shelton to Culpeper Memorial Hospital with a lacerated left knee, contusions of the chin and a cerebral concussion. Trooper Dicks was investigating officer. Investigation is incomplete on a shooting Sunday night at Bel Air in Amissville. Clarence Payne cf Warrenton was shot by a glancing bullet. He was taken to Fauquier Hospital where he was treated and released. Sheriff C. K. Estes and Trooper Paul Dicks are continuing the investigation.
