Accidents Reported
Harry Moffett Mozingo of Rixeyvllle was charged with hit and run Saturday night by Trooper W. A. Buntin after he struck a vehicle in the parking lot at Castleton carnival grounds. As he was leaving the parking lot, Mozingo backed his 51 Chevrolet into a 1958 Ford belonging to Harry Brown Settle of Castleton and failed to stop at the scene. He was apprehended later in the evening. Damage to the Settle car was estimated at $100. Lewis Walter Butler, Jr. of Viewtown, speeding through the Intersection of Routes 522 and 211 at Sperryville Sunday night, overturned his 55-56 Ford sedan. Butler sped past W. A. Buntin, State Police, who was parked on the roadside several miles from Sperryville. When the Trooper followed him, he raced through the intersection and turned over. Butler was charged with reckless driving. The vehicle was a total loss. Butler and three other occupants were taken to Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton by Rappahannock Rescue Squad, where he and two of them were treated and released. Thomas Rector of Amissville, the third passenger, was transferred to the University of Virginia Hospital Charlottesville with head injuries.
