Hunters were in the woods early Monday morning, the first day of the season, and many apparently were success ful. Three deer have been checked at Payne's Garage. Clarence Baldwin, Washington, Va. killed a doe; Hale L. Golden, Silver Spring, Md., a buck; and Peter C. Brady of Annandale, a.buck. R. Lyle Rector reports seven deer tagged at his checking station. At the annual Scouter Recognition Dinner of Shenandoah Area Council, Boy Scouts of America held last week In Winchester Judge R. V. Snead, Washington, Va. was one of four men presented the Silver Beaver Award for outstanding service. Other recipients were William H. Louthan and Henry L. Bush of Winchester and Parke R.
