Crowned *Miss NHA’
At Carver High
Miss Jennifer Mallory of Rappahannock County was crowned Miss NHA at the annual coronation ball sponsored by New Homemakers of America at Carver Regional High School, Saturday, April 10. The event climaxed the 16th annual contest for which the winner receives a trip to the NHA state convention in Hampton and represents the organization at other events and parades. Nine contestants vied for the crown of Miss NHA of 1965-66 with representatives from each of the four counties the school serves. This is the third year that the winner has come from Rappahannock, the county with the smallest membership in the organization. Runners-up were Jean Moore of Culpeper County, and Patricia Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Smith of Gordonsville.

Pvt. Horace S. Jackson,Jr., whose parents live in Amissvilie, completed a 12-week radio relay and carrier operation course at the Army Southeastern Signal School, Fort Gordon, Ga., April 30. Jackson was trained to operate and maintain field radio relay carriers and various communications equipment. The 22-year-old soldier entered the Army in November 1964 and completed basic training at Fort Gordon. He attended George Washington Carver Regional High School, Culpeper.
Mother’s Day Service At Hopewell
There will be a Mother’s Day service at Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville, Sunday, May 9 at 3 p.m. Mrs. Jennie Hall of Washington, D. C. is the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.
